![]() ![]() Both shows float around on DVD and BTW "Centrestage" was another different show entirely and that is also out there on DVD as raw unedited footage! Some of those tracks didn't get released on the album Neil culled from the performance. Sadly the VHS tapes got mold and were thrown away years ago. I made a one hour edit of each one (basically stopping the DVD recorder and fast forwarding the VHS to the songs I liked) that are still my go to versions. I made DVD dubs of NY Unplugged and Weld from stereo VHS (official releases) and they came out pretty good. ![]() Of course, official full length releases of all these would be wonderful. There is also a neat CSN acoustic show filmed professionally in Tokyo that seems to be contemporaneous with the Acoustic DVD official release. I think the TV show recorded by Neil as the first try for MTV Unplugged (no band, solo) was broadcast as a Centrestage (PBS) episode and it exists "out there in the internet" together with the CSNY Storytellers and CSN Unplugged. ![]() MTV must have not liked them, They were fine on it. They needed a director or producer to whip them into shape.ĬSN did record an Unplugged show for MTV but it aired as a 1/2 hour show (including commercials) with only 3 or 4 songs. No real intent of telling meaningful stories behind the songs. Musically it is fine but between songs they talk all over each other and try to be funny. Nils Lofgren wrote a really interesting piece about this show in the book that came with his box set.Neil had filmed a show intended for Unplugged a few months earlier and was so unhappy about it he refused to let it be shown. He then contacted Nils to be in the band for a second try. When Neil and Nils turned up to rehearse a few days before the rescheduled show none of the other band members had bothered to learn their parts.Neil was very upset, left Nils to try and whip the band into shape.Neil went to a bar with Briggs, started on tequila shots and every couple of hours came back and listened to the rehearsal from outside the walls, unknown to the band. The day before the show Neil had another rehearsal with the band and was still not very happy. On the day of the show the band were told Neil might do the show solo depending on how he felt.It was only in the last few hours before the show that Neil decided he would do it with the band.ĬSNY's was a Storytellers show they filmed as a promo for the 2000 reunion tour. ![]() It fits in the time period of Archives Volume 4 which starts at either Ragged Glory or Harvest Moon.If it is ever going to appear that is where we will find it.On current release "schedule" that is probably 20 years away. ![]()
